AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
Want to know more specifically what we believe and teach? Here is our theology in a nutshell:
The Trinity
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons - God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit.
God the Father
We believe in God the Father, Creator of the Universe: an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of each person, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, truly God and truly man, God's only begotten Son. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings. In his death on the cross, he became our substitute and paid the price for our sins, providing a way for all who believe in him to have eternal life. We believe he rose from the grave physically and ascended into heaven where he intercedes with God the Father on behalf of his followers. We believe someday he will return to earth.
The Holy Spirit
We believe in the Holy Spirit, and that he convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells, regenerates, sanctifies and empowers every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, comforter, teacher and guide.
The Word of God
We believe God inspired the Old and New Testaments. They completely reveal God's plan for the salvation of humanity. The Scriptures bear faithful witness to Jesus Christ and are the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct for the Christian.
Sin & Regeneration
We believe that Adam and Eve were created in the image of God, but sinned. That sin brought death and separation from God for them and all their descendants. We believe every individual is a sinner both by nature and by choice, and therefore under condemnation. We believe that those who repent of their sinfulness and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are made new by the Holy Spirit.
The Church
We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all who put their faith in him are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a group of believers in Jesus Christ and associated for worship, work and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the local church the primary task of carrying the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.
Christian Conduct
We believe that, through the power of the Holy Spirit, Christians should live for the glory of God and the well-being of others, always pressing on toward full maturity in Christ.
The Ordinances
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the triune God, testifying publicly to the desire to identify with Christ and his church. We believe that the Lord's Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We believe that these two ordinances should be practiced until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The Last Things
We believe the Lord Jesus Christ will return to earth personally and visibly to establish His kingdom. We believe He could do so at any time. This hope is vital to our living holy lives and serving God faithfully. We believe in the resurrection of the body and the final judgment; eternal life with God for those who accept Christ and eternal punishment for those who reject Him.
