HOW WILL THIS BE…?

I often find myself asking the same question Mary did. "How will this be, God? How will You _________ ? It just doesn’t make sense. The resources aren’t there."

Certainly during this year of 2020 and all the chaos the year’s designation embodies, I have felt the weight of uncertainty. The reminders that life as we think it 'should be' can change almost in an instant. It changed in an instant for Mary, too.

Be sure to not overlook the promise Gabriel gave her, tucked in at the very end of his message. "For nothing is impossible with God."

Nothing. Is. Impossible. With. God.

This is weighty, too.

As I pondered this verse, the bridge of the song "Healer" kept going through my mind. I know it isn’t a Christmas song, but hearing the repeated refrain "nothing is impossible with You, nothing is impossible… You hold my world in Your hands."

I’m guessing Mary could relate to that as her world was turning upside down. I want to have more of Mary’s response, where I can rest and trust that God knows what He’s doing, even and especially when I can’t see it. I want to remember my place, as God’s redeemed daughter; as His chosen instrument to contribute to the world around me, however big or small that happens to be at any given moment during my life. I want to keep my focus on what God is doing and preparing - not on my own concerns alone, but looking to His hands and listening for His voice.

Where is God reminding you that nothing is impossible with Him?

VERSES OF THE DAY

Luke 1:34-38

“How will this be,” Mary asked the angel, “since I am a virgin?”

The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month. For no word from God will ever fail.”

“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her.

QUESTION

What “impossible” thing would you like to ask God to do?
